Decagon Diamonds

I started this creation well before the snow flew. Some of my family members were curious as to why there were little green flags placed in the field. I bought a Garmin GPS67 to log my hikes in the woods, but also to lay out design patterns. I was curious to see if it was possible and to some extent I was pleased to see that it works, though not as well as I had hoped. This design used GPS and a little eyeballing to create.  I first started this design on December 6th. It was late in the day, so I could only complete the outline.

Here are a couple photos from the ground view.

Here is the first video short I created of the incomplete design.

A thaw and other obligations prevented me from completing this design, until December 25th, a perfect day. The sun was out, it was -3F degrees, and there was no wind. I was able to recreate the original work and complete the design. It took 12,876 steps (6 miles) on snowshoes, and 3 1/2 hours to complete.

And the completed Decagon Diamonds

Here is the final video short I created.
