Compass and Arcs - Winter 2020

 21 February 2020 - Compass & Arcs

It was -25 degrees this morning so I didn't want to wander too far from home. I decided to make another snowshoe design. This time I used a compass to create some axis points. I discovered that compasses and large metal poles do not work well together. Luckily, I was able to recover a bit. This design was equivalent to snowshoeing 6.3 miles.

The idea for this design came from the previous design. I needed to figure out a way to get the 4 starting points for the half circles. I was able to do that with a compass and walking a short distance north, south, east and west from a middle point. There is a mistake, but just about every design has one.
